The following is a statement from UpTogether CEO Jesús Gerena:
Amid change and uncertainty, UpTogether remains unwavering in our commitment to trusting and investing directly in families.
Our hearts are with our members and partners, many of whom feel hurt, anger, and confusion. Like them, we are concerned about the road ahead and its impact. In response, we’re taking time to understand this moment so we can continue delivering for the families and communities who rely on us.
One message from Tuesday’s election is clear: Americans are deeply frustrated with an economy that isn’t working for them. Many of UpTogether’s members work hard but still struggle to make ends meet. That’s why UpTogether advocates for policies to change how we address poverty, from an expanded Child Tax Credit to guaranteed income. This was never going to be easy, and we have no plans to give up.
Now more than ever, UpTogether’s work is urgent. We are resolute in protecting our mission and the people we serve. We will keep investing in families. We will keep amplifying their stories. We will keep working toward a United States where all people are recognized for their strengths and can thrive.
We don’t know what will come, but the UpTogether community is strong. Please know that UpTogether stands with you during this pivotal time in our country’s history.
